Black Roses and Forget Me Nots
Black Roses and Forget Me Nots
By: Carmen Cooper
There you are on the tree
The softest touch that ever touched
Sweet whispers and bitter memories
I can’t forget you
Even when I try
Burning fire, a hole in my heart
Black roses and forget me nots
I owe you for the happiness
You owe me for all the sadness
This picture of you burns my skin
I can’t look your way because my tears won’t go away
We held hands, celebrated your birthday on the 31st
You couldn’t take no more
You left to get rid of the pain
You told me nothing
Just kept it in
A secret
We were the secret
Hiding behind close doors, under the covers, in the car, in
the cub bards, the attic and shed, spider webs and mice abandoned barns
You wrapped me up in
your arms held me close, said this was forever
Only time will know
It’s all run out
The last smile, the last of the sunshine
Tomb stones and red velvet satin
A black coffin with silver linings
Chocolate cake, feel betters
Its ok you can stay if you want to
On my bed there is a black rose
With your picture beside it
I kept on, I hope you don’t mind
You always gave me flowers
I can’t look at you
My eyes are watery
I slip you under my pillow
It’s damp from crying
Everything is blurry
Then dark
Then quiet
Then slow breaths
The tree and your soft touch, arms around me
Sweet dreams and sweet whispers
Before I close my eyes must tell you
A secret
I See Stars
“These are the hard times here to inspire
Convenient how it always works out this way
The message you'll find, heart on a wire
It'll make you say”
You know I said I don’t like them
Haha but you still play it
“This is the story of our lives
From the road we sit and watch it pass by
Is this the best use of my time?
Don't worry my love, everything's alright
I'd give just about anything
To know she's waiting for me
An eye for an eye, a dream for a dream”
